Consider this:
As a part of my 9 to 5, I am sometimes required to "personally" file documents with the court. Such was the case today. And as would be normal, I gathered all the documents, put them in the briefcase on wheels and went to my car with them.
Well, upon getting to my car I put a bag I was carrying in the trunk and my purse on the seat. The next thing to do would have been to put the brief case in the back, but I noticed that my car was blocked in. I figured to call the office receptionist to have her contact the gargage attendant so he could move the cars blocking me, but at that moment I caught a glimpse of him and asked him myself. He proceeded to move the blocking cars and drove my car out for me. I then got in the car and drove off.
It wasn't until I had reached my destination -- almost an hour away -- that I realized the briefcase was not in the back seat. My brain raced trying to figure how I could get back to my starting point, get the briefcase and then make the trip back to where I was supposed to be ... all in 1-1/2 hours. The court closed at 4:30 and it was 2:50. What was I going to do???
I called the office. The attendant had noticed that I had left the briefcase, returned it to the office and one of the attys was on his way to bring it to me.
Talk about cutting it close. All I could envision was seeing the tally increase one number higher on the unemployment toll.
ps: The documents did get filed on time. Whew!!! Don't want to experience that again.
